History.

There were two founding families of Maple, the Noble and the Rupert families. The Nobles settled where Major Mackenzie and Keele intersect today. The town used to be called Noble’s Corner in 1852. After this, there was a doctor named Doctor Rupert and he was so respected that the towns name was changed to Rupertsville. However, many of the townspeople called their home “Maple” because of the many maple trees that could be found along Keele Street. When the Canadian National Railway made a stop in the area, they named it “Maple.”
