For shopping needs, residents have easy access to King Street. King has plenty of restaurants, cafes, and is in the heart of the entertainment district. Liberty Village is also nearby, which has many hip restaurants as well. The financial district is not too far either. St Lawrence Market and the Distillery District are just a short streetcar ride away.

For recreational needs, there is Canoe Landing Park, which is a privately funded urban park. It is full of artwork, specifically by the artist Douglas Coupland. There is a large canoe that people can stand in and see beautiful views of Lake Ontario. Residents have immediate access to the whole waterfront, which has so much to do. There is plenty of green space, an ice rink, kayak/canoe rental, access to the Toronto Islands, and much more.

CityPlace used to be the Spadina Street Yard Facility, which was part of the Railway Lands on the waterfront. In 1965, the CN railway began to move their yards to suburbs of Toronto- such as Vaughan, due to the demand of the citizens to revitalize the waterfront. In the 1980’s, the Metro Toronto Convention Centre was built, which was one of the first steps to improving this neighbourhood. The Skydome was completed in 1989, and the Air Canada Centre was completed in 1997. These landmarks drew lots of attention to the neighbourhood, making it a popular downtown destination.
