Residents of Swansea have easy access to the Bloor West Village shopping district. There are plenty of European bakeries, delis, restaurants and more. One can also find clothing stores, service shops and shops with everyday household items.

There is the Town Hall and Community Centre, which has a gym and meeting areas. The Swansea Memorial Public Library is also attached to the town hall. It specializes in material for children and seniors. Rennie Park is also in this neighbourhood. It has tennis courts, a wading pool and an ice rink. High Park is within walking distance and has an abundance of facilities and things to do- there is a zoo, cycling paths, areas for fishing, a restaurant, or a special event such as Shakespeare in the Park.

Etienne Brule was the first European to set foot on the land as we now know as Swansea. However, it was the First Nations people who were the first to inhabit this area. The area is called Swansea after the Swansea area in Wales, because the topography is similar. Swansea was one of the last villages to become a part of Toronto in 1967.
