History.

The Don Mills name is based off the Don River and the fact that in the 1800’s there were many mills operating in this part of the Don Valley. During World War I, Don Mills was a “model-farm” with award-winning livestock and equipment. In the 1950’s, the farm was sold to the Don Mills Development Company who turned the area into the neighbourhood we know now. Don Mills is known as “Canada’s First Planned Community” because of their post-war suburban development.
