The first resident of the present day neighbourhood was Thomas Weatherhead, a solicitor for the East York School Board. He purchased 30 Rosemount Avenue in 1925, and later had the street name changed to Bennington; his wife’s maiden name. This name then got adopted by the neighbourhood school; Bennington Heights Elementary School.
