There is the Yonge Eglinton Centre for shopping, which also has a movie theatre and a gym, as well as many shops and restaurants along Yonge, north of Eglinton. One can find most anything they need at Yonge and Eglinton; groceries, pharmaceuticals, clothes, and recreational items. There is the North Toronto Community Centre and park which has many hockey, soccer and baseball leagues available, as well as a skating rink and a playground.

History.

North Toronto is actually a more recent neighbourhood as it was created in 1890 as a combination of sections of Davisville Village, Eglinton Village and Bedford Park Village. When North Toronto was created, it was mainly a farming community, however when the Metropolitan Street Railway added a stop in the location, houses began to pop up all over the area, making it one of the most popular commuter neighbourhoods by early 1900’s. Now, North Toronto is considered to be Central Toronto, and a “second downtown” with the fast-growing Yonge & Eglinton at its core.
