Casa Loma not only has grand, expensive houses as most people think; it is also home to a mix of both old and new condominium buildings. The neighbourhood is in great demand because it is constituted of beautiful architecture, close access to the TTC, shopping, parks and schools.

The closest shopping area for every day needs is at Bathurst and St Clair. For gourmet food shops, high-end boutiques and professional services Forest Hill Village is nearby, which provides all of this and more.

Casa Loma is a very green neighbourhood. It includes Sir Winston Churchill Park, which has tennis courts, a childrens playground and a running path. Around this park is the Nordheimer Ravine, which has many trees and plants. There is also Wells Hill Park, which has a childrens wading pool. Nearby to this park there is the Wells Hill Lawn Bowling Club and the Wychwood Public Library. A community centre operates out of Hillcrest School, which has a pool and a gym.

Casa Loma was built in 1911 by Sir William Henry Mill Pellatt, a financier, industrialist and military man of the time. It took about 300 hundred men and three years to build Casa Loma, which was Henry’s dream home. The home cost him so much money and put him so far in debt that he eventually had to turn it over to the City of Toronto.
