I got my real estate license back in the early 1980s, if you can believe it. I’ve seen thousands of homes all over the city and all different kinds of market conditions since then. You might think I’ve seen it all, but I haven’t. There’s always a new twist here or there which is what keeps real estate interesting for me.
 
I’m not one of those people who always wanted to get into real estate. It actually happened by accident. I was a young mother at home with two little kids while my hard working husband was holding down two full time jobs - owning and running a restaurant and working as a Realtor. He was never home. When I asked him what he was doing at the office every night, he said he was organizing property data sheets (which were all printed on paper back then). I told him to bring them home and I would do the organizing for him so he could spend some time with our kids. That was the beginning.
 
Gradually, he asked me to do more and more. Then he asked me to get my real estate license, but I didn’t want to. I was already busy enough with our kids. But I did and started helping him and it grew on me. I came to like it and realized I was good at it.  And here I am, over forty years later, still helping my clients buy and sell their homes.
 
The funny thing is, I don’t advertise or market myself. I don’t even have a website. My business has always come from my clients calling me over and over again and referring their friends and family to me. So I guess I must be doing something right.
 
I’ve worked at a few different companies over the years, most recently at Advocate Realty Ltd. with Michael Meltzer and Anthony Malecki. Now we’re all working at Sage as The Advocate Group. The company name may be different, but some things will never change. My clients know I have their best interests at heart and I’ll be totally honest with them. Getting it right for them is what it’s all about for me. Nothing makes me happier than hearing how much they love their new home.
