About
Dan Balm’s path into real estate started well before his first listing—at 15, washing dishes in a restaurant, and eventually working his way up to general manager. It’s a trajectory that says as much about temperament as it does about work ethic.
The restaurant industry is an unforgiving place to learn how to think on your feet. Dan credits those years with shaping the way he still operates today: stay calm under pressure, anticipate problems before they surface, and communicate clearly when it matters most. Because in his experience, people aren’t looking for perfection—they’re looking for someone steady, honest, and accountable.
Nearly twenty years into real estate, that approach hasn’t changed.
For Dan, the business has never really been about property. It’s about people navigating high-stakes decisions on tight timelines. First-time buyers questioning every number. Sellers balancing logistics with emotion. Families trying to line up moves that rarely unfold as neatly as planned.
The houses are the backdrop. The pressure is the story.
His style is deliberately low on theatrics and high on clarity. He’s skeptical of the idea that negotiation needs to be aggressive to be effective; more often, the best outcomes come from understanding the numbers, managing expectations, and keeping everyone aligned.
Balm holds a degree in Criminology and Legal Studies, a background that informs his analytical approach to contracts, risk, and negotiation. He’s also a frequent guest speaker at local high schools, where he talks less about career paths and more about direction—encouraging students to define their own “why,” take action before they feel ready, and focus on solving real problems rather than chasing titles. Underpinning it all is a consistent message: attitude matters, and so do the people you choose to surround yourself with.
Outside of real estate, he’s a husband, father of two daughters (and two dogs), a motorsports fan, and an ambitious home cook. Having spent much of his life traveling, he now shares that perspective with his daughters—part education, part adventure.
His family would tell you he’s funnier than he is. He tends to agree.
What they’d also tell you is that he takes the responsibility seriously. Because buying or selling a home isn’t just a transaction—it’s a decision with long consequences. Dan approaches it that way: prepared, measured, and focused on helping clients make choices they’ll feel good about long after the deal is done.
