Google Pay Per Click advertising can be a very powerful part of a Toronto real estate agent’s marketing mix. But it can also be an incredible waste of money if the campaign isn’t managed properly. Pro tip: Always, always set an end date on your campaigns.
In order to properly manage your Adwords Campaign you need to know, not just which keywords are getting clicked on, but what happens to that traffic once it hits your site. This is important information because it allows you to make informed decisions about which keywords to bid on and how much to spend on each click.
Even if your Google Analytics account and Google Adwords account are set up through the same gmail account it does not mean that your accounts are automatically linked. And since they arnt linked then you cant see which keywords are driving the traffic to your site, and how that traffic is performing. If you dont know how it is performing then you dont know if it is money well spent.
In order to link the accounts follow these steps:
Step 1. Log into your Google Analytics account and select the site that you want to link to your Google Adwords account. Your Google Analytics login credentials should be the same as your Google Adwords login info.
Step 2. Click on ‘Admin’ in the top menu
Step 3. In the second column marked ‘Property’ click on ‘Adwords Linking’
Step 4. Under ‘Select linked Adwords accounts’ click on the box next to the Adwords account that you want to link to your Google Analytics account
Step 5. Update the group title so that it is meaningful to you and be sure to select ‘All Web Site Data’ under the ‘View Selected’ drop down menu. then click ‘Link Accounts’
Step 6. Bada-bing all is linked up

As you can see in the screen shot above, once you have linked the accounts you can now see what keywords brought the traffic in and more importantly what that traffic did once they reached the site. And that is what is the most important element because now you know what keywords are worth paying for. And if you really want to take it to the next level you can set up conversion tracking and assign a dollar value to the conversion so that you can figure out just how much you should pay for that specific traffic.
